A Structured, Predictable School Day

Predictability calms nervous systems. Our school day runs from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a consistent routine that includes classroom instruction, pull-out sessions with a teacher assistant for one-on-one or small-group tutoring, a lunch break, and structured recess. Students always know what comes next, which reduces the uncertainty that often fuels new-year adjustment struggles.

Academic work connects directly to real-world experiences, including off-campus job experience within the local community. The program develops:

• Independent living skills including cooking, nutrition, and household management
• Self-advocacy and social-emotional learning

Transportation for FLAME community job experiences is provided by the school.

BEACON: Speech and Behavioral Support

Our BEACON program serves students with speech and behavioral disabilities through highly personalized instruction. With an average class size of just 5 students, plus the support of a speech-language pathologist in our speech classrooms, students receive the individualized care they need to communicate and regulate more effectively. The program also includes a hands-on, sensory-rich curriculum and an on-campus sensory room that supports emotional regulation and reduces anxiety.

Applied Learning, Art, Music, and Physical Education

Students take part in applied learning classes such as cooking, garden science, shop, and crafts, along with dedicated art, music, and physical education.
